Meeting 5:
This was the third virtual meeting of our club. At this point we didn't know when school was going to open up, so the main theme of the meeting was to create things that made us nostalgic or gave us happy memories. We used only paints today, gouache, acrylic and oil.
Two of our members continued works that they had previously started, the acrylic painting of the cartoon character "Stitch", and the realistic oil painting of the woman. While the third member made a painting of her and her friends from school, using references and pictures that she had of them. A fourth worked from a Bob Ross painting tutorial, to create a gray-scale landscape.
Olivia: We had a great amount of fun today, all of us had our paintbrushes in hand, and were creating amazing things on canvas and paper. One of our members was using gouache for the first time, and they compared it to acrylic paint, if it had the water-activating aspect of watercolors. Their artwork had very vibrant colors in the final result. The members that were continuing past projects were deeply concentrated and close to finishing. The oil painting had very rich colors, and used light and shadow very well. The "Stitch" painting was very cute, it had extremely straight lines, geometrical, and was just aesthetically pleasing to look at. The Bob Ross tutorial painting was very beautiful, and it emphasized that anyone is able to create art. This all gave us a good bonding session, talking about BSGE and taking a break from the workload.
